Some time before i was searching to have a option to display a specific post list on my sidebar coz my clients wanted this feature in your websites. Infact we have many other plugins to display “recent posts” Popular post and specific post with details too but not list in sidebar. so i have decided to develop a plugins for that requirements.

so this plugin in developed. ( requirement is mother of invention lol )

Installation Instructions

1. unzip file and upload file “featured-posts-list.php” into your /wp-content/plugins/.
2. Go to your plugins page and activate plugin.
3. Go to Settings/options >> Featured Posts List tab to update posts Id’s to display under your featured Posts list on your site.
4. you can user multiple posts Id’s by use comma. example : 1, 2, 3, it will display 3 post lists
5. add <?php featuredpostsList(); ?> on your sidebar.php or any other page to display featured posts list.
6. you can pass before and after varibles. this is default setting <?php featuredpostsList($before = <li>”, $after = </li>”) ?>

now im telling you how to display wordpress posts in 2 rows, you can increase it 3 or 4 as per you requirement or your design need.

We have added our blog on home page www.w3cgallery.com under “recent blog posts” it really simple with wordpress. for make it display in 2 rows we need to play with CSS/and coding little bit. not major dont worry any new owner, who really dont now much about wordpress can fix it too

lets start with coding 1st edit with (yourtemplate/index.php)

This is it for coding part, now we have to add 2 classes in CSS files so edit (yourtemplate/style.css) file below

you can edit these codes and css classes as per your requirement.

Wordpress has many functions to user with many ways, today i will give you many option to play with categories post, you can use these codes any place, even on your home page (yourtemplate/index.php) or sidebars (yourtemplate/sitebar.php).

Im sure this is very easy way to edit wordpress function or class for your requirements.

Exclude/avoid Specific Category Post 

for exclude or avoid any specific category post on home (yourtemplate/index.php) you need to use these codes.

<?php query_posts(’cat=-1′);?> # category ‘1′ post will be excluded by this codes, you can replace ‘1′ as per your category id.

 Exclude/avoid multiple categories

<?php query_posts(’cat=-1,-2,-3,-4′);?> # category ‘1′,’2′, ‘3′, ‘4′ post will be excluded by this codes, you can replace ‘1′,’2′, ‘3′, ‘4′ as per your category id.

Display Specific Category Post 

<?php query_posts(’cat=1′);?> # category ‘1′ post will be excluded by this codes, you can replace ‘1′ as per your category id.

Dispaly Specific multiple categories Post

<?php query_posts(’cat=1,2,3,4′);?> # category ‘1′,’2′, ‘3′, ‘4′ post display

Display some fixed number of posts

<?php query_posts(’showposts=1′);?> ## only 1 recent post will be display.

Display some fixed number of posts + Specific Category

<?php query_posts(’cat=1&showposts=6′);?> ## only 1 recent post will be display.

Where/How to use these functions in your pages

Let start to display on home page as we have done on www.w3cgallery.com home page under ”recent blog posts”.

We have  6 recent post with Specific Category, mean <?php query_posts(’cat=1&showposts=6′);?>

I have noticed on many developer facing problem with no CAPTCHA code display problem with “wordpress Contact form plugin”.

Its really easy to install and use, just like pepsi can open and drink,

but make sure these steps:

1. Make sure GD and FreeType libraries are installed on your server.
2. Make sure wp-contents/uploads/wpcf7_captcha folder exists and is writable.

most of time i have seen developer not care about “wp-contents/uploads/wpcf7_captcha” folder exists or not, be smart developer and must check it, if there no folder, create “wpcf7_captcha” and give write permission to it.

and check it will work fine,

for it you need to use substr like this as below

you can change ‘250′ with any numbers of words you want to display on listing page. or any place

I used the following code in header.php to make sure the title reflects the page you’re on:

Of course you can adjust your template to make the title display right for you.
In my index.php I added the following for the breadcrumbs:

if you facing same problem and fedup where is the problem like i did, so do these steps.

you need to edit “rss aggregate” setting from administrtor panel,

you need to add “<img>” tag in rss aggregate html tags allowed.

and you will see it works, but make sure your feed contained images.
